A VISION FOR LASTING COMFORT AND COHESION
When our clients relocated from Washington, D.C. to a home nestled in a wooded neighborhood with water views, they envisioned a main floor that would serve as the true heart of their home. Their goal: to create inviting, functional spaces for family life and entertaining, while achieving a look that is striking, classic, and sophisticated, never predictable or overly casual. Our team at Details and Design approached this home refresh with a clear mission: to unify the kitchen, dining room, entryway, office, living area, and powder bath through cohesive design choices, all without the need for major structural changes. This approach allowed us to modernize and personalize the first floor while preserving the home’s original character.

The transformation began with a carefully curated palette of updated paint colors and tones, setting the stage for a harmonious flow from room to room. New trim work and thoughtfully
selected flooring colors further enhanced the sense of unity, providing a fresh yet timeless backdrop for daily living. Furnishings were chosen with the client’s lifestyle and aspirations in mind-balancing comfort, durability, and elegance. Each piece was selected to complement the family’s collection of art and meaningful objects, ensuring that the refreshed interiors felt both personal and elevated. Drawing inspiration from the home’s natural surroundings, our design team integrated textures and tones that echo the beauty outside the windows. The result is a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels rooted in its environment and perfectly suited to the family’s evolving needs.
